What if a surface wasn’t just chosen, but authored?
plonc. explores how materials shape architecture. Through authored porcelain, collaborations with artists, and the study of geology, craft and place, we develop surfaces and objects that begin long before specification.
A Note from the Studio
The practice continues to evolve. New works, collaborations and research are being added as they develop.
just plonc. it
Architecture begins long before walls are built.
It begins with the materials that shape how light is reflected, how a surface is touched, and how a place is remembered.
At plonc., we don’t begin by asking what’s trending.
We begin by asking what a material can make us feel.
That question leads us to geology, craft, authorship and collaboration. Where every surface carries the memory of its making, and every object has a reason to exist.
This is why we design some works, collaborate on others, and continually search for materials that deepen the architectural experience.
Because materials are never just finishes.
They are part of how architecture is understood.

plonc. is an architectural materials practice exploring how geology, craft and authorship influence the experience of space. Through original porcelain, collaborations with artists, and ongoing material research, we develop surfaces and objects that carry the memory of their thinking.
Some works begin as drawings. Others begin in conversation with makers, landscapes or centuries-old traditions. Each is selected or created for its ability to contribute something meaningful to architecture, not simply to fill a specification.
This is not a catalogue assembled around trends. It is an evolving body of work, shaped by research, collaboration and the belief that materials influence how we see, feel and remember the places we inhabit.
This is not imitation of nature. It is a new geology, authored for architecture.
Material Library
Every collection begins with an investigation into geology, landscape, light, craft or memory. Some are authored entirely within plonc. Others emerge through collaboration with makers whose work extends our understanding of material and place. Together they form an evolving architectural material library.
Some materials can only be understood in person. Light, depth and texture reveal qualities that photographs cannot.
